Seven Ciena Healthcare Communities Honored with Bronze National Quality Award
Ciena Healthcare, a leading manager and operator of skilled nursing and rehabilitation communities, announces seven of its communities have been recognized as 2011 recipients of the "Bronze - Commitment to Quality" National Quality Award.

FARMINGTON HILLS, MI, June 26, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ciena Healthcare, a leading manager and operator of skilled nursing and rehabilitation communities in Michigan and Connecticut, announces that seven of its communities have been recognized as 2011 recipients of the "Bronze - Commitment to Quality" National Quality Award. The award is given annually by the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL), a trade organization with approximately 11,000 members nationwide, recognizing commitment to and continuous delivery of quality care. The seven Ciena communities to receive this award are Autumnwood of McBain in McBain, Christian Park Center in Escanaba, Courtney Manor in Bad Axe, Golden Oaks in Waterford, Kith Haven in Flint, Qualicare Nursing Home in Detroit and St. Anthony Healthcare Center in Warren.

These seven communities bring the total number of Bronze award recipients to 12 for Ciena Healthcare — Bloomfield Orchard Villa in West Bloomfield, Fountain View of Monroe and Willowbrook Manor in Flint received the award in 2010, and Hartford Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Detroit and the Manor of Novi received the award in 2009.

"The Bronze National Quality Award demonstrates Ciena's commitment to providing high quality patient care, along with well-managed and maintained communities," said Mohammad Qazi, president of Ciena Healthcare. "We are honored to be recognized by our peers in the healthcare industry with this prestigious award."

The National Quality Award program is a guide for providers of long term and post-acute care services striving for performance excellence, based on the core values and criteria of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Program. At the Bronze level, communities must develop an organizational profile and an awareness of their environment and consumers' expectations. They also must demonstrate their ability to improve a process as part of the application.

"This honor showcases the high level of care and professionalism that everyone at Ciena provides to our patients every day," said Kristine Halsey, chief operating officer, Ciena Healthcare. "It's a direct reflection of the hard work and dedication of our facility, regional and corporate staff at each of the communities."

The award will be presented to the administrators of the seven Ciena Healthcare facilities during the AHCA/NCAL 62nd Annual Convention and Expo, September 18-21, 2011 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
