Candidate for State Representative of Eaton County Urges Legislative Candidates to Run Clean Money Campaigns
Bob Robinson announced today that he would accept the three-point "clean campaign" pledge promoted to all nine candidates for Eaton County's State House race by Mayor of Grand Ledge, Kalmin Smith.

VERMONTVILLE, MI, June 13, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bob Robinson announced today that he would accept the three-point "clean campaign" pledge promoted to all nine candidates for Eaton County's State House race by Mayor of Grand Ledge, Kalmin Smith. Smith's pledge asks candidates to conduct a civil campaign, withhold personal attacks on opponents, and remain issue-oriented. Robinson has additionally urged all candidates to sign a "clean money" campaign pledge, and to refuse contributions from lobbyists as well.

"This election, we are giving people an opportunity to vote for a new vision for Michigan," said Robinson. "A vision where citizens control the debate, where lobbyists no longer buy off our vote, and one where Michigan progresses into the next generation of job creation. It's a vision where the citizens are the winners, not the lobbyists.

Speaking for Citizens
"The only way to run a truly clean campaign, and respect the citizens of Eaton County is to also run a "clean money" campaign and refuse lobby money. That will assure that our next State Representative speaks for the citizens of the district and not the lobbyists. Citizens have watched lobbyists and special interests run Lansing into the ground."

Robinson, who supports Clean Money Campaign Reforms in Michigan (legislation that has already been enacted in Vermont, Massachusetts, and Arizona), has not accepted lobbyist contributions for his campaign. He has been gaining the support of district voters from both sides of the political fence for his position.

"The people of Eaton County want someone to represent their families and their peers, not the lobbyists," said Robinson. "They want someone to communicate their beliefs and values at the Capitol - a partner who will ensure the future for their children and grandchildren. We don't need more politics, wrangling, or political ploys in Lansing. We need real people - citizen advocates - who will work to improve the lives of everyday folks."
