Gill Industries acquires technology from Warvel Products to expand its line of products for office furniture chairs
Gill Industries Inc. in Grand Rapids, Mich. acquired tooling and patents from Warvel Products, Linwood, N.C. to produce a line of control mechanisms for office furniture chairs.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI, June 14, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Gill Industries Inc. is expanding its offerings of control mechanisms used in office furniture chairs through the recent purchase of tooling, patents and other intellectual property from Warvel Products, Linwood, N.C.

The new GT-400M mechanism has the versatility of being used on office seating that ranges from lower cost conference chairs to fully functional high-end task chairs. Brad Miller, director of advanced products at Gill Industries, said variations of the GT-400M all use a common chassis that is then customized using several seating components into eight different product offerings.

Design choices range from a center tilt mechanism, in which the chair seat and back are adjusted independently to a synchronized tilt mechanism in which there is a link between the chair back and seat during recline. There are also options to add a seat slide and the mechanisms can be adjusted to fit any chair style.

"These tilts are very "robust" and will provide our customers with exceptional quality at a competitive price," Miller said. The GT-400M exceeds the performance product standards for office furniture chair mechanisms set by the Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Association (BIFMA), based in Grand Rapids. One aspect of the BIFMA's mission is to develop standards used by office furniture manufacturers in North America.

Miller said GT-400M is an excellent complement to his company's high-end Genero line of chair control mechanisms which features a balanced ride, pneumatic height adjustment, adjustable reclining tension, seat limit, back lock and forward bias for task seating. The chassis of the GT-400M is designed to fit any chair with standard mounting patterns or locations.

The GT-400M mechanisms are available for sale in North America and Europe with approximately 4-6 weeks delivery time.
